Quaker Testimonies 10/09/05 to 12/11/05

Quaker Testimonies Unit (ten weeks - Oct 9, 16, 23, 30, Nov 6, 13, 20, 27, Dec 4, 11)

To roughly coincide with the adult Quakerism 101 teaching.  This unit has expanded to ten weeks, allowing two weeks each for discussion of 5 Quaker Testimonies; one week for an example taken from the life of an early Quaker figure, and one week for a Quaker in modern context, hopefully someone we know (Floyd Schmoe, Nicola and Judy Hale were mentioned).  We noted the importance helping children understand how life was for early Quakers to make the stories more relevant in  the present.  Growing in the Light will serve as a jumping-off point with its lessons on the Testimonies, and stories be taken from Candles in the Dark and other sources.  We need to work out differences in material given to the older and younger children for this unit, and decide if some classes could/should be combined.
